Hi Reader,

Two things this week: some news about our Tuesday Maremmas Made Easy calls, and a few dogs I’d love to see settled in new homes.

What’s Happening With the Maremmas Made Easy Calls?

Those weekly calls started as a trial run. Thank you to every one of you who showed up, asked questions and shared stories. You gave us some of the best conversations I’ve had about these dogs, and plenty of them turned into newsletters along the way.

Here’s what I learned. The best moments didn’t come from me answering questions. They came from owners talking to each other. That only gets better with more people in the room, so I’m making Maremmas Made Easy a free online community, open to everyone.

I have a bunch of family (including 7 of my grandkids 💜) visiting for the holidays so the calls are taking a holiday break now. They will come back in January, about once a month, inside the community. You’ll also get every call recording and a drama-free place to talk livestock guardian dogs, without the Facebook noise.

Join the free community list → You’ll get your invite and our first call date before anyone else.

Can’t wait until January? Listen to past calls →

My puppy families will also get extra resources inside the community made just for raising a Prancing Pony Maremma.

Which Adult Maremma Sheepdogs Are Available Right Now?

Most people come to me for puppies. But sometimes the best fit for a farm is a dog who’s already grown up, or almost there. Right now I have five older Maremmas looking for their next home. Each page shares their history, what they’re great at, and what they’re not right for.

Electra, 6, female. A proven livestock guardian dog who has worked my goats, poultry and horses for about six years, now retired from breeding. She’s friendly and affectionate with people and patient with puppies. (Not all adult dogs are.) If you want an adult to bring along a younger dog (like one of our 5 month old puppies or one of the other dogs on this page), she’s the first one I’d point you to. Meet Electra →

Jack, 1 year old, neutered male. One of the gentlest young males I’ve raised. He’s great with goats and horses and soft-hearted with people. He came back to me through my Lifetime No-Fault Return Policy, through no fault of his own. He’d love one calm partner and a peaceful farm. Meet Jack →

Carina, 1 year old, female. She’s lived with goats since she was tiny and grown up around poultry, horses, cats and kids. She’s a very sweet and beautiful girl. One of her hips didn’t develop the way we hoped, so she needs flat ground and a manageable job. In the right home, she has every chance at a long, comfortable working life. Priced lower than comparable dogs her age because of her hips. Meet Carina →

Pegaso, 5, neutered male. One of the most beautiful dogs I own. I imported him from Italy as a stud dog but unfortunately he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia during his pre-breeding health testing, so I had to neuter him. He’s gentle, calm and completely at home with my horses. He isn’t a reliable goat or poultry dog, and his hips call for an easy life. He’d be lovely on a horse property (or potentially with cattle) or in a companion home. Priced lower than comparable dogs his age because of his hips. Meet Pegaso →

Gianna, 8, spayed female. Retired breeding dog, mom to some amazing adult LGDs. Three of her daughters are in my breeding program, and she’s still one of the toughest predator fighters on my farm. She’s looking for a quiet place with chickens or ducks and a friendly male dog (no females) to work beside. Meet Gianna →

Some of these dogs pair beautifully. Jack would be happy with Electra or Carina, and Carina and Pegaso could share a horse property. Carina, Pegaso and Gianna also have a lower placement fee when they go home with another Prancing Pony dog.

Looking for a younger dog? See our older puppies and started dogs and available puppies.

If one of these dogs feels like yours, apply here and we’ll set up a call. I talk with several families at once, and only a paid reservation holds a dog.

Thank you for being part of this. See you in January!

Kim

P.S. Know someone looking for an older dog or a lower priced adoptable dog? Forward this along. One of these dogs might be exactly who they need.
