February Farm Recap: Puppies, Placements & Big Changes
February was full at Prancing Pony Farm — Cameo delivered her first litter of eight healthy Maremma Sheepdog puppies, heartwarming pickups happened, a Pennsylvania sheep ranch got exactly the right team, and surprise goat babies arrived despite my very firm plans to the contrary. There’s a shipping window closing in late May that out-of-state families need to know about, a beautiful new road going in alongside the puppy parlor, and — maybe most unexpectedly — a week of heavy construction equipment running right next to my puppy pastures that turned into a masterclass in real-world socialization. Catch up on everything that happened and find out what’s still available.
Why I’m sharing this (and why it matters)
Hi Reader, Last week I mentioned my husband was starting some medical treatments. I kept it vague because I wasn’t sure how much to share, or if I should share at all. But then I remembered something: when I had cancer 12 years ago, sharing my story was one of the most valuable things I did. It connected me with people going through similar struggles. It allowed others to support me. And it allowed me to support them back. So here’s what’s happening: My husband has stage 4 prostate cancer….

This Valentine’s season, show your flock or herd the ultimate love: protection from a professionally bred Maremma Sheepdog. Our “Love Your Livestock” Valentine’s promotion runs through February 14, offering strategic spring preparation bonuses designed to help you get a livestock guardian in place before lambing and kidding season chaos begins. Choose from two bonus tiers—premium packages for early commitment (by Feb 10) or standard packages through Valentine’s Day—with options for flexible boarding, complete shipping coordination, or pickup starter packages. These aren’t discounts; they’re value-added bonuses worth $200-800 that solve real problems when adding a livestock guardian dog. With multiple exceptional Maremmas currently available, plus future litter reservations qualifying, you can plan strategically instead of scrambling desperately. Payment received by the deadline locks in bonuses. An application is required for new clients.
🐑🐐 You’re thinking about spring all wrong (and it could cost you)
Hi Reader, I know what you’re thinking. It’s January. Spring feels like forever away. You’re planning for lambing or kidding season in a couple of months, and you’re thinking, “I should probably get livestock guardian dogs… but not yet. Spring makes more sense, right?” I hear this constantly. And I totally get the logic.
