PennHIP measures how loose the hip joint is, a number called the Distraction Index (DI). Lower is tighter, and tighter is better.
Why this puppy was tested
I PennHIP some puppies while I’m choosing who stays for my breeding program. I keep very few, so some lovely puppies with good hips don’t stay.
Pricing
$4,000 is the age price ($3,500) plus $500 for the PennHIP evaluation I’ve already done. The price rises by $250 at 6 months and locks when you pay in full.
Good to know
- A good PennHIP score lowers the odds of hip arthritis. It can’t promise a dog will never develop it.
- Every puppy I place carries the same health guarantee and lifetime support, tested or not.
- Puppies 12 weeks and older are paid in full to reserve. You have two weeks after payment to pick up or ship before Extended Stay applies.
