Hello Reader,
I hope you’re having a good week! Twice this week, I was asked about toys and activities for Livestock Guardian Dog puppies.💜🐶 The first was a member of my Living and Working with Maremma Sheepdogs Facebook group, who wanted to know what toys were recommended for a 3-month-old puppy. The second was one of my puppy clients who lives in Connecticut and to whom I sent two puppies last week. She wanted to know what toys were ok for her pups.
This is a topic I have wanted to write about for a while, so I finally decided to do it. This post is a general overview of toys and enrichment activities for LGDs with recommendations for toys you can buy, as well as ones you can make. I will revisit this topic in the future with follow-up posts because I have lots more to say about this subject! But for now here you go!

| | Are you wondering how to keep your Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) puppy happy and active? LGD breeds like Maremma Sheepdogs, Great Pyrenees, and Anatolian Shepherds need appropriate play outlets to prevent boredom, which can lead to rowdy behavior around livestock and unhappy, stressed puppies. What toys and activities are best for them? |
What about you and your dogs? What is your pup’s favorite toy? (Mine love toys but Amazon boxes and empty soda bottles are a big hit, too. 😆) I love hearing from my subscribers, so let me know!
Just hit reply to this e-mail and say hello!
