Hi Reader,
Quick, unusual email today — I don’t normally send this early in the week, but I wanted to catch you before the upcoming Zoom call.
Last Thursday, I told you about a new weekly Zoom Q&A I’m starting, and invited you to join the first one. Since then, I’ve been rethinking how I framed it, and I want to be upfront with you about why.
Here’s What Happened
I originally pitched this as a replacement for my old one-on-one breed discovery calls — basically, a group session for people trying to decide if a Maremma is right for them. But the more I sat with it, the more I realized that’s not quite the call I actually want to host, or the one most of you actually want to be part of.
So here’s the updated version: I’ve been planning a membership for a while now, and it’ll eventually include a casual weekly call for members — puppy clients and anyone else in the community — to talk about anything Maremma or LGD related. Training wins, funny stories, hard questions, whatever’s on your mind. Since the membership isn’t quite ready to launch, I decided not to wait. I’m starting those calls now, under the Maremmas Made Easy umbrella, and — for now — opening the door to anyone who wants to come.
That means Tuesday’s call isn’t a “come find out if you should buy a dog” session. It’s more like a bring-a-friend night. Some of my puppy clients and other Maremma people will be there talking about real life with these dogs. If you’re just curious about the breed, you’re welcome to sit in, listen, and ask whatever you want — no pressure to carry the conversation, no spotlight on you.
One More Disclosure!
This is my first time ever hosting a group call, and only the third Zoom call I’ve ever run, period. I’ll probably be a little clunky. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time and finally just decided to stop being nervous about it and go. I’d love your patience as I figure it out — and I think it’s going to be a genuinely good place to talk about these dogs with people who actually want to hear about them.
Help Me Serve You Better
I know 3pm Pacific on a Tuesday won’t work for everyone, and I’m still figuring out the right day/time for these calls. If you have a preference, you can take the poll below and let me know which of these works best for you (afternoons or evenings only — no mornings, no weekends on my end) and help me serve the most people as we get this going.
You can also hit reply and let me know which of these (or more specific days/times) works best for you. We may end up with an alternating schedule if it serves more people. I only chose Tuesday at 3 because I had to start somewhere!
If you want to add what part of the country (or other country) you’re in, that helps me even more as I try to find times that work for the most people.
One More Thing Before I Go
This handsome guy is one of my 1-year-old pups who came back to me this week, and that’s exactly why that big Maremma smile came so fast. (Photo taken his second day home.) He already knew this place, my dogs, my goats, and me. That’s the thing about a real lifetime return policy – it’s not just paperwork, it’s a standing invitation for any of my dogs to come home if they ever need to.
Hope to see some of you on the call — and if you can’t make this one, there will be more.
Talk soon,
Kim
