I hope you’re having a great week. It’s been a busy week for me, so I am just dropping in to say a quick “hello” and share a new page I made on my website with some important resources on keeping children safe around dogs.
My Granddaughter, Genevieve, petting Cinder while Titus and Pixie watch.
Learning how to interact safely with dogs is important for children because humans and dogs communicate and show affection differently. Safety with Livestock Guardian Dogs is especially important due to their size, power, and more protective and sometimes aloof nature.
It’s also important for dogs to learn to interact safely with children for their own protection. Many dogs end up surrendered to shelters and even euthanized because of bites that are often preventable.
We want to ensure children understand how to “speak dog” so everyone is happy, safe, and having fun. I’ve made a new page on my website with great resources and ideas for helping children learn to interact safely with Livestock Guardian Dogs (or any dogs) while still having fun.
I hope you find the page useful if you have children or dogs in your life, whether your children, grandchildren, or friends’ children. Feel free to pass this email on to anyone who might benefit from this important information.
As always, let me know if you have any questions about Maremma Sheepdogs or dairy goats or if you have anything you want to share!
Just hit reply to this e-mail and say hello!
