Last week, I received an email from a subscriber named Renee asking if Maremmas make good companion dogs. I am very passionate about this topic and have been meaning to write about it for a long time. Renee’s questions inspired me to finally write that blog post, and it is a whopper! It’s the longest blog post I’ve ever written, and I only covered half of what I have to say about the topic.
Mushroom, a Prancing Pony Farm Maremma, on a camping trip with her family
The short answer is, “It depends.” To get the full answer, you’ll need to read the post.
The topic is so complex that I couldn’t cover everything in one post, but I gave a thorough overview of my experiences and opinions about the suitability of Maremmas and other LGD breeds as pets.
Stay tuned for part 2 of the series, where I will discuss everything you need to know and consider before deciding whether keeping a Maremma (or other LGD) as a pet is right for you. No one but you can decide what’s the best breed for you or your family, but I’m here to help!
If you have anything you’d like to add to the discussion just hit reply and let me know!
