What Does a Prancing Pony Farm Maremma Cost? The Complete Guide.
Everything you need to know — reservation fee, puppy price, shipping, add-ons, and how payment works — all in one place.
I publish my pricing openly because I believe you deserve to know exactly what you're committing to before you apply. There are no surprise charges hiding in the process. What you see on this page is exactly what it costs to bring home a Prancing Pony Farm Maremma — from your first reservation to the day your dog arrives.
If you have questions about any of it, I'm always happy to talk through the numbers before you take any next step.
What You're Actually Paying For
Before the numbers, a quick note on what the price reflects. Every Prancing Pony Farm Maremma comes with:
- Comprehensive health testing on both sire and dam
- A professional puppy socialization and training program from day one
- MSCA registration
- A two-year health guarantee
- Complete medical records
- Lifetime breeder and trainer support from a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner
Our base puppy price starts at $3,500. That's not a number I apologize for — it reflects nearly a decade of experience, the real cost of ethical breeding, and a relationship that doesn't end when your dog goes home.
Purchases Made Through the PPF Store
Dog reserevation fees, payments and all other associated expenses are paid for directly through our WooCommerce store. Prices are listed below. Card processing fees are added to dog payments but are already figured in to the other products and services.
How Reservations Work
Getting your spot secured is straightforward — here's the full picture so there are no surprises.
Your first step is the Master Reservation Fee — $500. This holds your chronological place in line for any future litter, adolescent, or adult dog from our program. It's not a commitment to a specific dog or timeline — just your spot, secured. This applies toward your total purchase price.
When a litter is born and you're ready to commit to it, I'll reach out and send you a link for the Litter Commitment Payment — $500. This brings your total reservation investment to $1,000 and locks your specific spot on that litter. You'll never need to go looking for this link — I'll send it directly when the time comes.
If there's already an open litter available when we talk, you may be able to skip the two-step process and reserve directly with a single $1,000 Litter Reservation. I'll let you know on our call if that option is currently available.
All reservation fees apply toward your total purchase price.
Pay Master Reservation Fee — $500 →
Only pay this after we've connected and confirmed it's a good fit.
The Full Payment Timeline
Once your reservation is in place, here's what the rest of the process looks like:
When your puppy reaches 12 weeks (or if you are reserving an older dog), I'll send your final balance invoice directly — you won't need to go looking for it. Your final balance depends on your total reservation investment:
- Reserved with the Master Fee only including Master List clients choosing an older dog or puppy instead of a litter under 12 weeks ($500 paid): $3,000 remaining
- Reserved with the full two-step process ($1,000 paid): $2,500 remaining
Final payment must be received before pickup or shipping arrangements are finalized. Once payment and your signed contract are both complete, we'll coordinate your go-home date and get you everything you need — medical records, preparation guide, and your lifetime support connection.
For adult dogs and adolescents, full payment is required to hold. I'll send a custom payment link for those directly — pricing varies based on age, training, and experience.
If you previously paid a Master Reservation Fee and then decided on an older dog instead of a puppy under 12 weeks you'll pay the total balance to reserve the dog.
Paying the Master Reservation Fee does not hold a specific dog. It holds your spot in line until you make your final choice.
We do not offer multi-dog discounts.
Investing in Your Puppy's Success
You're making a smart choice by researching quality Maremmas. Now take the next step: set yourself up for success.
The Dial Method® is a science-based framework that helps you understand your Maremma's unique needs—whether they'll be working livestock or living as a companion.
Most LGD challenges aren't about "bad dogs"—they're about misunderstanding. This program gives you the tools to work with your Maremma's independent nature instead of fighting it.
Available to add to your Maremma purchase.
The Dial Method® helps you:
- Understand what your Maremma actually needs (they're fundamentally different from other dogs)
- Set up your environment and routines for success before the puppy arrives
- Communicate clearly with your independent thinker
- Build confidence instead of second-guessing every decision
You'll receive access to the course within a day or two of purchase being confirmed.

- Better control when your puppy is excited or nervous
- What your Maremma has been trained with since birth

Other Costs to Plan For
These costs vary based on your location, your dog's size, and your shipping method. Some are collected by me and passed along to the transport provider; the vet fee is paid directly to my veterinarian. I'm including them here so you have the full picture before you get into the process.
Air Cargo Fee Varies by airline, route, and dog size. Paid directly to the airline. I coordinate the booking; you pay the airline's fee separately. I'll give you an estimate once we know your dog's size and your destination.

Ground Transport Fee Varies by carrier and distance. Ground transport is an alternative to air cargo that works well for certain routes and dog sizes. If this option applies to your situation, I'll quote you based on your specific details. Paid directly to the transport company.
Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) Required for all professionally transported dogs. This is a health certificate issued by my veterinarian at Valley Veterinary Services prior to shipping. The fee varies and is paid directly to the vet. It is non-refundable once the appointment has been completed.

Layover Kennel Board Varies by kennel and length of layover. (Average $150-200 per dog.) If your dog's flight includes a layover, they may board overnight at an airline-approved kennel facility. I coordinate the arrangements as part of the shipping coordination service and collect the fees before shipping is booked.
Extended Stay Board (if applicable) $25/night after the complimentary 2-week grace period
All puppies include a two-week window from 12 weeks of age for pickup or shipping arrangements at no charge. If you need more time after that, I offer extended stay boarding at $25/night, which covers housing, daily care, and continued livestock exposure.
California Sales Tax
California law requires sales tax to be collected on dog purchases. If you're a California buyer, sales tax will be calculated and added automatically at checkout based on your billing or shipping address. The current Kings County combined rate is approximately 7.25–8%. Out-of-state buyers are not charged California sales tax.
Why There's a Processing Fee — and What It Covers
When you pay by card, a processing fee is added as a named line item at checkout. This fee covers the cost of secure card processing through Stripe, and it's standard practice across most industries. I show it as a separate line item rather than building it into the purchase price — that way, every client pays the real cost of the method they choose rather than everyone subsidizing card processing fees they may not be using.
Current card processing fee: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Fees subject to change.
- Reservation fee: $16
- Final balance (after reservation): $90
- Single full payment: $105
