At the Sign of the Prancing Pony

The Prancing Pony Farm Newsletter

Hello Reader,

โ€‹

I usually schedule my weeekly emails to go out on Thursdays at 7 am, but this one is running a bit late. Why am I running late, you ask? Because I attempted to go on a mini vacation with my husband, Steve. So far that trip has been a bit of a mess!I very rarely leave my farm, but our oldest son, Brian, is being promoted to Chief in the Navy, so Steve and I are going to VA, for the ceremony and to spend a few days with Brian, his wife and their four adorable kiddos, and our youngest daughter, Jamie, her husband and two sweet babies. The animals are in great hands with our youngest son, Noah, who turned 21 yesterday. (Crazy! He was 12 when we bought this farm!)

We arrived in Dallas yesterday afternoon with three hours to spare before our flight to VA. Apparently arriving early is worse than arriving late because we somehow managed to miss our flight! After standing in line for about an hour we were booked on another flight, but that one is leaving in about 20 minutes.

Fortunately the airport has these cool little “Minute Suites” you can rent for a few hours or all night, so we were able to get some rest and even a shower last night. So here I am, waiting to take off and get to Virginia. Because there weren’t a lot of options for flights we won’t arrive until around 5 PM, but hey, at least we are on the plane now. Progress!

While I was sitting around whiling away the hours in the airport I was chatting with my client, Dave, who lives in Texas. Dave has Bear and Chief, two of my pups from my Jan 2022 litter. The boys guard a huge flock of free range chickens and a small herd of cattle on Dave’s 55 acre ranch. And they are spoiled rotten by Dave and his wife, Susan. I get frequent updates from Dave on the adventures of Bear and Chief and

Dave always makes me laugh with his stories. Bear and Chief may be working LGDs, but they get the royal treatment with Whattaburgers when Dave comes home from work and a gallon of fresh milk from Susan every morning. Yesterday Dave told me a story that had me laughing so hard. Apparently Chief has learned to let himself into the house and made himself right at home in the grandkids’ bed while Dave was cooking eggs for the buoys. OMG!

Ok, the pane is about to take off so gotta go! I’ll let you know if I make it to VA!
