Hi Reader,

My lovely Italian imported Maremma, Pegaso has an appointment at the vet early Wednesday morning, so he had a quick grooming session Tuesday night. Pegaso is such a beautiful and sweet boy. Importing him from Italy two years ago was a dream come true. It felt like a significant accomplishment as a breeder. I still remember how excited I was when I picked him up at the airport. Excited enough that I braved LA traffic and LAX by myself to get him, something I would never do for any other reason! 

The reason Pegaso is going to the vet is unfortunate and breaks my heart. I didn’t know how sad it would make me until I decided to write about it. I didn’t expect it to make me cry, but it did. Wednesday is going to be a tough day. 

Don’t worry—it’s not that bad. Pegaso will be coming home, and he will be okay. But the dream didn’t turn out quite how I expected it to. Which, of course, is how it is with dog breeding. It can be the happiest and the most challenging calling ever, all at the same time. (Yes, I believe it’s a calling.) Maybe it’s only by having hard times that you really appreciate the moments of pure joy. 

I’ll write a blog post very soon about why Pegaso is going to the vet and what I’ve learned from this situation. As always, I will share the post with you guys first. So, if you want to learn more about Pegaso and why I’m so sad about his upcoming appointment, stay tuned.
