Hi Reader, โ Can you believe Christmas is only a few days away?! ๐ I sure canโt! I love Christmas but I donโt think there has ever been a holiday season when I have been more behind and unprepared than this year. ๐ณ๐ Besides the regular workload of running a business and caring for a bunch of dogs, goats and other animals, the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional course is really keeping me busy. โ I would have expected the workload to be a bit lighter during the holidays but itโs actually more intense than ever. I know getting this certification is going to pay off in the end but oh boy is it keeping me on my toes. It is definitely the most demanding project Iโve ever undertaken. โ Despite that I prioritize making time to enjoy certain holiday traditions with my family. There are 24 people in my family including my husband, children and their spouses and my grandchildren. I am blessed that most of them live locally so we get to have a big family Christmas as well as other fun activities we enjoy together including going to the the Illuminature show at the Fresno Zoo (amazing!) and decorating homemade gingerbread cookies. โ This past weekend we had seven of our twelve grandchildren over to spend the night. Their parents were able to wrap Christmas presents and get things done without the kids peeking and Steve (my husband) and Noah (our youngest son) and I had a lot of fun with the kids. That will definitely become a new Christmas week tradition as well as a more frequent family tradition. โ Sunday afternoon I took the 6 girls to see the new Disney movie, Wish, while Steve and Noah took Levi, the only grandson in the group, to see Godzilla. โ Have you seen Wish? As soon as I saw the preview I knew I had to take the kids. Why? Because the sidekick to the main character is a talking GOAT!! Yes, a baby goat! (He looks like a Nigerian Dwarf.) โ โ I wasnโt sure if the movie would be any good but it was actually great. All of the kids (from 2 to 14) enjoyed it and so did I. Even the youngest, two year old Genevieve, was enchanted by the movie, because she loves goats. (She calls me โgoat Grandmaโ, because I have goats. ๐) โ GOAT GRANDMA!โ โ So if youโre looking for something fun to do with the kids during the holidays I highly suggest you see Wish! โ Another thing that made me so happy about this time with my grandkids is that Penelope, my granddaughter who was recently hospitalized for appendicitis, was back to her old self again. (Sheโs the cutie in the red shirt and denim jumper.) The whole weekend she was silly, sweet and sassy. It did my heart good to see her feeling so great after that terrible illness she went through. ๐ She still has surgery in her future but sheโs so much better than she was just a week ago. โ Tonight I made a huge Costco run to get some Christmas goodies and stocking stuffers. (I do stockings every year for everyone who will be in town, so this year it will be sixteen.) Of course I also got treats, toys and goodies for the dogs – canโt forget them! (The goats, horses and cats will get their treats, too.) Now I need to get busy wrapping presents! โ I hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your family, friends and the animals you love. Enjoy some special traditions or make some new ones. โ Merry Christmas, Kim โ โ
