At 9 years old, Genevieve has perfected nearly a decade of puppies through patience, love, and living example. She simply loves puppies—not all dogs do. As an excellent working guardian herself, she models ideal livestock behavior that puppies naturally copy. My favorite story: when she worked alongside my first Maremma, Olaf, she’d bark at him whenever something needed investigation as if to say “Go check that out, will ya!” He’d dutifully investigate while she conserved her energy. Now in semi-retirement as a full-time puppy mentor, she applies that same wisdom exactly where it matters most—teaching the next generation what exceptional guardian dogs should be.
