🦮Maremma Update: Reservations Filling Fast (Limited Availability Remains)

I wanted to send a quick update following last week’s email about our Maremma Sheepdog breeding program and reservation process.

The response has been incredible! In just one week, we’ve received four new reservations for our future litters (bringing the total to 14), and two of our older puppies have found their perfect homes.

Current Status:

• Our April litter (due any day) is now fully reserved.
• Based on reservations from our Master Reservations List, we’re planning additional litters for the rest of 2025 and early 2026.
• Only one of our started adolescent Maremmas remains available for immediate placement.

The LGD Market is Healing

This confirms what I’ve noticed in the livestock guardian dog world – the market is shifting back toward quality, health-tested livestock guardians from reputable breeding programs. Smart farmers and homesteaders recognize that proper early socialization with livestock is irreplaceable, and cutting corners ultimately costs more in the long run.

What This Means For You: If you’re still considering adding a Prancing Pony Farm Maremma to your farm and family this year or early next year, I strongly encourage you to secure your reservation soon. Based on current demand, we expect our upcoming litters to fill quickly.

Available Options:

Reserve for a future litter: Do you need a livestock guardian dog in a few months, a year, or more? Secure your place on our Master Reservation List with a $500 reservation fee for a puppy from a future litter. This ensures your new LGD will be ready when you are:

Adolescent guardians: We have one 8-month-old Maremma ready now, already socialized with livestock and past the intensive puppy stage:
